It’s no easy thing trying to decide the best way to balance safety with our desires to provide full-time in person instruction. Kudos to our students and school families, teachers, and board members for working together to make this year successful. Our school board asked us to check in with you at P/T conferences about your preference for school schedule. Here is a summary of your feedback:
***families representing 19 students preferred to stay with the current schedule
***families representing 16 students preferred to increase hours
***families representing 7 students were flexible either way
On Friday, the Anchorage municipality, mandated that K-12th grade schools must limit classrooms to 50% of the classroom’s fire code capacity. Given this new mandate, the parent responses above, trends in the Anchorage data, and the considerations listed in our school’s decision matrix, we have chosen to stay with the current schedule for now. The school board will regularly review the situation and continue to keep you updated.
Thank you in advance for keeping your social groups small, monitoring your family’s health for signs and symptoms, and continuing to follow the AJA guidelines for protecting in-person instruction. Review AJA’s plan on our website at https://www.ajaak.com/covid-19/when-should-you-stay-home.
